Tax Ledgers:
Years: 1970 through 1998
Format: paper, microfiche, microfilm
Documents the tax history of a property for the designated year. The record contains the parcel number, address of the owner, property location, legal description, land value, value of improvements, and other information. Reflects the total payments made during that specific year.
Arrangement: Arranged by year, and then by sidwell or serial number.
To Access:
Researchers must have the address or tax number of the property. They also should know the year(s) that they are interested in. Without knowing the years, we cannot tell them whether we can access the tax entry for them.
Tax Assessment Rolls:
Years: 1853 – 1969
Format: microfilm
Records created from 1853-1858 are arranged chronologically thereunder alphabetical by first letter of surname thereunder geographical by ward. Records created from 1859 to 1892 are arranged chronologically by year thereunder geographical by ward thereunder alphabetical by first letter of surname. Starting in 1893, rather than wards, arrangement is by legal description which moves alphabetically through the plats in the Salt Lake City Survey, thereunder numerically through the blocks in each plat.
